David Garbers

Dr. David Garbers, distinguished scientist and Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator for more than 30 years, passed away recently at the age of 62. Dr. Garbers most recently served as professor of pharmacology and director of the Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences at University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Garbers earned his bachelor of science degree in animal science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also earned a master's degree in reproductive biology and a doctorate in biochemistry. He completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in physiology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville and began his career as an assistant professor of physiology at Vanderbilt, where he became a full …
