C. Craig Tisher, MD, was named interim dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine, effective March 30. Dr. Tisher was previously senior associate dean of medicine and director of the university/s Center for Clinical Trials Research.

As interim dean of medicine, Tisher stated that he plans to build on the achievements under the leadership of Kenneth I. Berns, MD, PhD, who served as both vice president for health affairs and dean of medicine before leaving to fill a top administrative position with Mount Sinai Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City (see related story, p 162 in this issue). “Besides focusing on the HSC/s strengths related to the neurosciences, cancer, genetics, diabetes and aging, we will give greater emphasis to transitional research, aiming to quickly apply positive outcomes of health science …
