Louis M. Weiner Appointed Director of Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center
Louis M. Weiner, MD, has been appointed director of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown. Dr. Weiner is a well-known medical oncologist, acclaimed for his work relating to the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies. His research work has examined novel therapies with which to treat patients with malignancies, including therapeutics that bind to cancer cells and stimulate the destruction of cancer cells by the host immune system.
Dr. Weiner earned his MD at Mount Sinai School of Medicine of New York University in New York City and completed his internship, residency, and chief medical residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center Hospital. Following fellowships in hematology and oncology at Tufts University School of Medicine, he joined the faculty of Fox Chase Cancer Center in 1984.
