Dr. Robert I. Grossman to Lead New York University School of Medicine
Dr. Robert I. Grossman was recently named the next dean of the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and chief executive officer of NYU Hospitals Center, replacing Dr. Robert Glickman, who has held the positions since 1998. Dr. Grossman currently serves as the Louis Marx Professor of Radiology, the chairman of the Department of Radiology, and professor of neurology, neurosurgery, and physiology and neuroscience at the NYU School of Medicine. Prior to joining the faculty of NYU, Dr. Grossman held numerous positions at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Grossman completed his undergraduate work in biology at Tulane University and earned his MD from the University of Pennsylvania. Following his internship at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Dr. Grossman completed residencies in neurosurgery and radiology at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a 2-year fellowship in neuroradiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Grossman has received multiple awards throughout his career, including the Javits Neuroscience Investigator Award of the National Institutes of Health and the annual Outstanding Contributions in Research Award of the American Society of Neuroradiology Education and Research Foundation. Dr. Grossman, board certified in radiology and neuroradiology, is president of the American Society of Neuroradiology, a fellow of the American College of Radiology, and a fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. He has authored over 300 publications and four books, including the textbook Neuroradiology: The Requisites. He also holds editorial positions for several scientific journals, such as the American Journal of Neuroradiology. Dr. Grossman will assume his new positions effective July 1, 2007.
