PPARγ: A NOVEL MOLECULAR TARGET IN LUNG DISEASE
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are members of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors. Emerging evidence indicates that PPAR gamma (PPARγ) regulates gene expression and function within several cellular compartments of the lung. This symposium will emphasize the therapeutic implications of these findings for seemingly diverse types of lung disease and clarify current understanding of the basic molecular and biochemical mechanisms by which PPARγ participates in lung cell biology.
