Purpose: The purpose of this request for applications (RFA) is to invite and support applications characterizing the regenerative potential of human beta cells, including studies to define signals and cellular targets required to regenerate pancreatic function in the diabetic microenvironment and experiments to identify ways to enhance beta cell regeneration in vivo. It is anticipated that findings will facilitate attempts to slow or reverse tissue damage and/or enhance recovery of beta cell function in diabetic patients.
